Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Can I bring my bicycle to be repaired? It has been a long time (5, 10, 15 years) since I last used it, can you still repair it?

Of course! That’s what we’re here for. No matter how long it’s been,
bring it to the workshop and we’ll take a look together. We’ll consider the best options to extend the bike’s lifespan and provide you with a repair estimate.

  2. How much does each service cost?

Each bike is unique, and each part has a different price. We offer you a free, no-obligation estimate. If you bring your bike to the workshop, we will do a diagnosis and call you to confirm if you want to proceed with the repair.
  3. Do you take long to complete each service?

Repairs are done on a first-come, first-served basis and depending on the availability of materials, so it will depend on the workload and the type of repair needed. When providing the estimate, we can give an approximate time frame.
  4. Do I need to make an appointment to bring my bike?

At the moment, it’s not necessary, but if you call beforehand, we can tell you if there’s a long wait and, if it’s not an urgent repair, you can wait a few days to bring it in.
  5. Do you buy second-hand bicycles?

No. We are fortunate that many of you have decided to donate your old or unused bicycles to us, and we have a fleet that we keep renewing with new donations. We then put in the work, add new parts if needed, and give them the use we consider appropriate in each case.
  6. Do you sell second-hand bicycles?

It’s not our main activity and we don’t have a constant supply, but as we renew our fleet with new donations, we make some of them available. Ask us, and we’ll see if there’s one that suits you.
  7. Do you rent bicycles to individuals?

Individually, not at the moment. In any case, you can write to us to explain your need, and we’ll see if we can come up with a solution. If you are part of an organization, company, or collective and want to use some of our fleet, we do have rental solutions available for you.
  8. Being a non-profit cooperative, do you offer services for free or at very low prices?
L’Escamot is our work, and therefore, we have to charge for our services. It is to be able to work and live with dignity. Although we are a non-profit cooperative, we engage in an economic activity that must be sustainable. Our prices are competitive with market rates, ensuring that we can offer quality services.
  9. Can I buy parts at your workshop?

Yes! However, keep in mind that our space is very small and the variety of bicycle parts and accessories is almost endless. We don’t keep a large stock, so we may not have everything immediately, but we can order what you need and have it at the workshop in a few days. We also have second-hand parts at lower prices, sourced from donations and other repairs.
  10. Can I come and repair my bike myself at the workshop?

A self-repair space is something we’ve wanted from the beginning, but at the moment, our infrastructure doesn’t allow us to have it at our location. However, there are initiatives in the city where this does happen… have you heard of CIVICLETA?
