Description
The commission given by l’Ajuntament de Tarragona to l’Escamot SCCL consisted of carrying out 12 actions in public spaces across the city, with a distribution designed to have an impact on various neighborhoods in Tarragona. The goal was to raise awareness about the 30 km/h city and sustainable mobility, primarily promoting the proper use of bicycles and personal mobility vehicles (PMVs).
These street-level actions also aimed to bring the benefits of active and sustainable mobility closer to the population and provide basic knowledge for good coexistence with other modes of transport. In this regard, part of the awareness-raising effort was focused on helping citizens understand their rights and duties when moving around the city, while also emphasizing the need for understanding and respect for less common modes of mobility in Tarragona (bicycles, PMVs), especially from car and motorcycle users. To achieve this, a tent was set up in different locations (image 1) across the city of Tarragona, where, through various types of interactions over a period of 4 hours, good practices for using bicycles and PMVs were promoted. Informational brochures on the Tarragona City 30 initiative, brochures on good practices and recommendations for cycling (created by us), and a survey about citizens’ mobility habits were also distributed.
The campaign was carried out during the months of July and September 2021 and was present in the following locations: the Dock area, Rambla Nova (Teatre Tarragona), Rambla de Bonavista, Arrabassada Beach, Vall de l’Arrabassada, La Mora, the Mediterranean Ring, Sant Pere i Sant Pau, Plaça de la Parròquia de Sant Salvador, Plaça Corsini, Rambla Nova (in front of Hisenda / Despullats), and Plaça dels Infants.
